(And don’t worry, we’ll cut the jargon and talk in layman’s terms to save you having to google anything!)
Lean To Conservatory
Lean To conservatories have a roof that slopes downwards away from the house. They are a classic and traditional design that often offer a more affordable style of conservatory. By no means does this mean they lack style or quality though, and can prove excellent value for money.
They are elegantly simple designs with clean lines, and are suited to properties that have a low roofline. Moreover, they are incredibly versatile which makes them adaptable to many property types and able to be styled to achieve your desired look.
Victorian Conservatory
With a striking look, Victorian conservatories are highly decorative and have a bit of a gothic look to them. Unlike most conservatories that are flat fronted, Victorian conservatories have multiple panes of glass to create a rounded front. Their roofs usually rise to an apex and feature a decorative spike.
This style can help to make a conservatory feel spacious and provide panoramic views. They require a property with enough roofline height, perhaps not the best choice for properties such as bungalows. Victorian properties are best suited to traditional style homes.
Edwardian Conservatory
Edwardian style conservatories are similar to Victorian, but have a square or rectangular front rather than rounded. This style is best suited to those who would rather a little more subdued and subtle look.
These conservatories tend to have four panes that rise to meet in the centre to form an apex which is separate to the main roof of the property. This can prove an attractive and effective option for homes with low rooflines, including bungalows.
Gable End Conservatory
For Gable End conservatories, the front of the conservatory stays upright like the end of a house. This style can make it look rather grand, as well as increasing versatility to maximise the space for practical use.
Whilst a property needs to be tall enough to accommodate its high roof, Gable End conservatories can suit both traditional and modern homes alike. Gable End roofs are often combined with hip roofs, a style where all roof sides slope downwards.
P / T Shaped Conservatory
P and T shaped conservatories are made from merging multiple conservatory styles. P shaped conservatories are a combination of a Lean To conservatory and a Victorian conservatory, creating a ‘P’ shaped floor plan. T shaped conservatories are similar, but have an additional Lean To section on the other side, creating a ‘T’ shaped floor plan.
These tend to be larger in size, providing plenty of space and making them well suited to larger gardens. They can make for highly eye catching designs and provide fantastic kerb appeal that your neighbours are bound to be envious of.
